Research & Publications

Julius Yls’s research traces a two-decade arc across successive waves of media technology. It began in the early 2000s with sensor-driven interactive installations works debuted at platforms such as SIGGRAPH and Transmediale Berlin, and has since moved through virtual-reality exhibitions, blockchain provenance studies, and today’s AI-mediated learning and cultural storytelling. Always practice-led, Julius pairs scholarly inquiry with real-world deployment, testing ideas not only in studios and journals but also in commercial settings where they must prove durable value. The chronological list below maps this continuum, connecting early experiments in embodied media to current investigations of immersive, distributed, and intelligent systems.
